Modern Warfare 3 has officially been confirmed by Activision as the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise.

The game was first leaked back in May 2023, before officially being confirmed on August 7, with Activision releasing a short teaser trailer.

Besides releasing a teaser, the devs have remained quite tight lipped when it comes to the next installment in the franchise, however.

Not to be mistaken for the Modern Warfare series from the late 2000s, Modern Warfare 3 will see the return of fan favorite protagonists Soap and Captain Price.

It’s expected that Modern Warfare 3’s campagin will follow on from 2019’s Modern Warfare and 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, continuing the story for the series reboot.

Similar to the original Modern Warfare 3 released in 2011, the game is expected to the see the return of the notorious Makarov — likely to be the story’s main antagonist.

More details are expected in the coming days, as a ‘Makarov Reveal Trailer’ is set to premiere on August 9 according to the Call of Duty YouTube channel — giving us more of an insight as to what’s in store for Modern Warfare 3.

As per usual, the game is slated for a Fall release, with Modern Warfare 3 expected to launch worldwide across all platforms officially on November 10.

With a staggering amount of games in the series already, Modern Warfare 3 will be the 23rd major Call of Duty title to date.
