Microsoft Confirms Xbox will be attending Gamescom 2024 with the “Biggest Booth Ever”

1 week ago 39

Microsoft has announced its return to Gamescom this year with what the Xbox console maker describes as its “biggest booth ever.” The announcement was made through the official Xbox account on X, inviting attendees to visit and experience their showcase at the event.

Microsoft has strategically taken advantage of the absence of its major competitors, Sony and Nintendo. Sony confirmed on Wednesday that it will not participate in the event. Sony last attended the event in 2019. The Gamescom 2019 was the last physical show before the Covid-19 pandemic. Sony has started showcasing its games through digital events, which can be seen as avoiding the expenses associated with physical conferences.

In April, Nintendo also said they would not attend Gamescom 2024. Nintendo stated that fans would have other opportunities to test Switch games at different events throughout the year. This leaves Microsoft as the only big console manufacturer at the event.

The Gamescom organizers are yet to release the full list of exhibitors who will be at the show.

We’re excited to confirm a few of our games at @gamescom: Age of Mythology: Retold, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, Diablo Immortal, The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Towerborne and World of Warcraft: The War Within! More soon. #Xboxgamescom

Microsoft’s lineup for Gamescom 2024 includes a variety of high-profile titles. Attendees can look forward to seeing the following games at the event:

This will be Blizzard's first Gamescom appearance since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $69 billion last year. Xbox stated that more games will be confirmed at a later date.

Gamescom 2024 will take place from 21st-25th August, in Cologne, Germany. Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live showcase will be on August 20, promising two hours of game announcements, trailers, and gameplay reveals.
