A Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons remake has seemingly leaked

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is being remade for a new generation of players.

That’s according to highly reliable leaker and dataminer billbil-kun, who claims that a remake of the celebrated co-op title is set to be announced soon.

It’s reportedly set to be published by 505 Games and could conceivably be revealed at the Game Awards on Thursday night.

Brothers was written and directed by Swedish-Lebanese filmmaker Josef Fares, who developed what his first game in collaboration with Starbreeze, and would later go on to found It Takes Two studio Hazelight.

The fantasy adventure sees players controlling two brothers at once as they set out on a journey to find a cure to save their dying father.

It was first released in 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, before making its way to PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Nintendo Switch and Amazon Luna over the following seven years.

Brothers won several notable awards including the prize for Best Innovation at the 2014 BAFTA Video Game Awards.

In 2015 Starbreeze said the title would be “best nurtured under a new owner” and sold the rights for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons to its publisher 505 Games.

Ian Howe, then president of 505 Games, said at the time: “Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a remarkable game, one of the most affecting games of the last generation and one of which 505 Games has been very proud to be associated.”
