2 weeks ago 42

Roboquest launched to overwhelmingly positive reviews in 2023. The intense, fast-paced action is exhilarating, and the randomly generated environments keep it feeling fresh. Moreover, it delivers an intriguing storytelling experience that makes it feel immersive.

Roboquest is set to become even more immersive with the release of Roboquest VR, which has been explicitly designed for virtual reality platforms. This VR version will plunge you into the game’s vibrant worlds, offering enhanced control over your character and a more dynamic gameplay experience. Fortunately, since the VR edition is rooted in the original game, we already understand what to anticipate. Here’s a comprehensive preview of everything we know about Roboquest VR.

What is Roboquest VR?

Roboquest VR game

Roboquest VR is a new version of Roboquest that is designed for virtual reality platforms. The original Roboquest game launched in 2023. Notably, the latest game doesn’t change anything from the original game except the platforms.

Roboquest VR is a fast-paced first-person shooter (FPS) game like the original game. It features intense action, intriguing storytelling, and beautiful adventures. The action involves fighting hordes of ferocious bots, while the adventure and storytelling include exploring the world while solving conspiracies and mysteries about the world’s destruction.

Roboquest VR: Story

Game Story

Roboquest VR is set in a distant future, in the year 2700. It features a lonely world with a dwindling, endangered human population. The remaining humans live in small groups scattered across a desert. Surviving the threats surrounding them is increasingly challenging, and their extinction seems inevitable.

Luckily, one girl called Max stumbles upon an old Guardian robot buried beneath the sand. Guardian robots were designed to help and protect human beings. As such, Max hopes the new robot can give the remnants a better chance of survival. Fortunately, the robot is still functional, and the little girl manages to reactivate him.

Max bonds well with the Guardian robot. The two explore the canyons surrounding them, hoping to find a way to survive and uncover answers about what happened in the past. However, they encounter hordes of evil bots guarding the pathways through some canyons. They seem to protect an important secret hidden deep inside the canyons.

Nevertheless, Max and the Guardian robot must fight through the bots and venture deep into the canyons to uncover the hidden secrets. The story unfolds as you explore further, yielding surprising clues that fuel your curiosity.

Gameplay

Roboquest VR

Roboquest VR delivers fast-paced action, adventurous exploration, and exciting character upgrades. Playing the original Roboquest game in virtual reality will be just like playing it; it will be more immersive, and the controls will feel more versatile.

You play as a Guardian robot scouring the world for answers and fighting evil bots everywhere you go. Moreover, you can choose from seven other robot classes as you progress, each with unique abilities and playstyle. The requirements for unlocking new classes vary, including beating enemies, defeating big bosses, and collecting rare weapons and equipment. For example, you can unlock the Commando class by defeating 750 enemies.

Exploration is a significant aspect of the overall gameplay. As such, you must guide the Guardian robot through canyons for answers and a means of survival. The environments are randomly generated and feature diverse themes and atmospheres to keep the adventure fresh.

You come across hordes of hostile bots as you explore your environments. The bots don’t hesitate to attack you as they try to stop you from venturing further into the canyons. As such, you must fight back using your weapons and abilities. You can use diverse weapons, from ordinary to futuristic tech-based weapons. Notably, the action is intense and fast-paced, one of the game’s best aspects.

Storytelling is also an intriguing aspect of the gameplay. You can’t help but wonder what the bots are guarding so fiercely as you try to find a solution to mankind’s extinction problem. As such, you must keep fighting and venturing further to unravel the mystery by uncovering clues.

Roboquest VR also features extensive character customization and upgrading systems. Notably, you can collect Wrenches and Powercells as you explore and go on runs. On the one hand, you can use Wrenches to unlock permanent upgrades, expanding and boosting your robot’s abilities. On the other hand, you can use Powercells to buy items from vendor NPCs in between runs. However, it is worth noting that Power cells expire after every run.

You can play Roboquest VR alone in the single-player mode or with a friend in the two-player co-op mode. The co-op mode features a smooth public match-making system, making it easy to find partners. Moreover, partners can synergize their abilities to pull off more spectacular moves. Interestingly, the original game supports cross-platform gaming. However, it isn’t clear whether the VR version will support cross-platform gaming.

The game’s high-octane, custom-tailored soundtrack is also worth mentioning. The soundtrack complements the fast-paced action, making the gameplay feel more engaging.
