New version was briefly playable

A 20th-anniversary edition of Beyond Good & Evil leaked — and then even became briefly playable — overnight through an Xbox Achievement listing, suggesting a re-release of the PS2 classic is imminent. Exophase is tracking Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One versions for a 20th Anniversary Edition, with complete Achievement lists attached; this usually hints at a full release in the near future, with PS5, PS4 versions pretty much a certainty.
Following the Exophase listing, the game's Xbox Store page revealed extra details like a 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second with "improved graphics, controls, and audio, along with brand-new autosave and cross-save features". There's also a new speedrun mode, the aforementioned Trophies, and an anniversary gallery.
To really seal the deal, the 20th Anniversary Edition then even became playable for a short time via Ubisoft+ on Xbox, so this new version is very much happening.
First released for PS2 in November 2003, you play photojournalist Jade as she attempts to uncover an alien conspiracy. The game received a PS3 remaster and sequel in Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced years ago, but it has yet to see the light of day. Are you interested in returning to the first game?
