Bandai Namco has officially revealed the 32nd and final character set to join the Tekken 8 launch roster, Reina. Reina is a formidable fighter with striking resemblances to the late series antagonist, Heihachi Mishima. Heihachi dies in Tekken 7.
Developed in collaboration with Taido World Champion Tetsuji Nakano, Reina brings a fresh dynamic to the Tekken universe. In a PlayStation blog, Tekken 8 director Kohei Ikeda describes her as possessing a “charismatic sense of evil.”
He further highlighted the duality in her combat techniques, combining the forceful Mishima style with the acrobatic moves of Taido. Taido, a martial art, evolved from traditional Okinawan karate.

Reina Gets a Debut Gameplay Trailer
TEKKEN 8 - Reina Reveal & Gameplay Trailer
In addition, Bandai Namco released a gameplay trailer. Reina is seen rising from the Mishima family dojo throne with electrifying attacks, a nod to her lineage as Heihachi Mishima's illegitimate child. The trailer showcases Reina engaging in fierce battles with previously revealed fighters, including special interactions with Mishima bloodline members Kazuya and Jin Kazama.
With Heihachi Mishima definitively absent in Tekken 8, Reina steps into the void left by the iconic patriarch. The trailer emphasizes this connection, featuring Reina executing Heihachi's signature moves, including the Electric Wind God Fist uppercut. Her Rage Art finisher further solidifies the link, enveloping her in darkness reminiscent of Heihachi's distinctive devilish silhouette.
The UN Leader's Debut, Adds a Twist to Tekken's Narrative
In addition to Reina's reveal, Ikeda revealed a second character, Victor Chevalier. Tekken 8 introduces a significant narrative shift with the introduction of Victor, the leader of the UN's armed forces. Victor's entrance promises a unique twist in the storyline, especially in the face of the growing influence of the G Corporation, led by Kazuya Mishima.
Victor's combat style, described as “super spy-style CQB,” incorporates an array of weaponry, including combat and karambit knives and optical devices. His eclectic fighting approach blends military combat techniques, science fiction elements, ninjutsu, super spy tactics, and a touch of gentlemanly flair. Players can expect Victor to wield his sword, Takemikazuchi, with exceptional skill, showcasing electromagnetic battōjutsu and high-speed movements with optical camouflage.

Tekken 8 promises a dynamic and compelling roster, with Reina and Victor adding intriguing layers to the iconic fighting franchise. Tekken 8 will launch on January 26, 2024, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
