On a recent Bilibili livestream, Xtreme Gaming’s Zhao "XinQ" Zixing reportedly provided a candid analysis of his former teammate, Wang "Ame" Chunyu, with whom he shared the battlefield at LGD Gaming throughout 2021 and 2022. XinQ's comments delved into the evolution of Ame's gameplay, particularly comparing his current form to the zenith he reached during The International 2021 (TI10). XinQ also pointed out Ame’s playstyle in the recently concluded Asian Games 2022 Dota 2 event, where the Chinese team won the gold medal.
XinQ Said He Saw Ame as the 'God of Dota' During TI10
XinQ’s comments on Ame were recorded by the renowned Chinese Dota 2 Twitter handle CN Dota In a Nutshell. According to the Twitter page that transcribed the player’s words on stream, XinQ talked about Ame’s current form and compared it to Ame’s performance in 2021.
Recalling the TI10 tournament, XinQ painted a vivid picture of Ame and said he saw him as the "God of Dota" during that era, emphasizing the player's flawless execution and absence of unforced errors.
This characterization positioned Ame's performance during TI10 as an unparalleled pinnacle, a sentiment shared by many within the Dota 2 community. Notably, LGD finished as the runner-up of the tournament in 2021, losing to Team Spirit in a close 3-2 series.
However, XinQ suggested that Ame's subsequent absence from the professional scene may have played a role in what he perceives as a decline in Ame's current performance. While acknowledging Ame's continued excellence, XinQ pointed out three or four notable mistakes made by the player during the Asian Games 2022. He further asserted that such errors would have been unlikely during the TI10 era.
Ame has been on a break since The International 2022 (TI11) and he has made no statements regarding his comeback. He is currently actively streaming on the popular Chinese streaming platform, Bilibili.
In February 2023, Ame communicated to his viewers that he was not interested in competing in any professional Dota 2 tournaments this year. But he competed in the Asian Games 2022 alongside his former teammates Lu "Somnus" Yao, and Yang "Chalice" Shenyi.
Following this, in October 2023, rumors suggested that Ame would be back to competing in Dota 2 esports. The rumors gained momentum after China's victory at the Asian Games 2022, where Ame was part of the national team.
A screenshot of a conversation between an unidentified person and LDG Gaming’s owner Pan "Ruru" Jie was widely circulated in the Chinese Dota 2 community. Notably, Ruru hinted that “it's possible” for Ame to return.
However, fans should note that neither Ame nor LGD Gaming has issued an official statement regarding Ame’s comeback.
