Most notably, Wreckfest 2 takes full advantage of modern gaming hardware to refine its true-to-life physics system for an even more realistic gameplay experience. it will be available on various platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Story

Race car

The official trailer for Wreckfest 2 features a narrative about a racer “talking” to his old car about the destructive races in the original game. However, these games don’t have much of a story. Fortunately, you don’t need a story to race and crash cars. Interestingly, you can create your own story as you wrack up victories and customize your car.

Gameplay

Wreckfest vs. Wreckfest 2

The overall gameplay designs in Wreckfest and Wreckfest 2 are mostly similar. However, the gameplay in Wreckfest 2 is slightly more polished and realistic, thanks to the improved and new features.

The best aspects of both games are racing and wrecking cars. They feature two main modes, including Demolition Derby and Racing. Each mode features various other modes that prioritize crashing or racing.

The Demolition Derby mode focuses on crashing cars, while the racing mode focuses on beating other racers to the finish line. However, while racing doesn’t matter in the Demolition Derby mode, you can still wreck cars in the Racing mode. Interestingly, you don’t have to cross the finish line to win races as long as you are the last car on the track or get the farthest.

Interestingly, Wreckfest 2 will feature revamped modes with new rules and objectives for fresh racing and crashing experiences. Notably, it will feature timed tournament modes that will test your driving skills and more.

Wreckfest features dozens of arenas and racetracks for demolition derbies and races, respectively. Some are easy, while others are challenging and complex. Similarly, Wreckfest 2 will feature dozens of new, versatile racetracks and arenas.

Unlike most racing games, both Wreckfest games feature old cars banged up from intense demolition derby races and patched back up through the game’s customization system. Interestingly, the cars look cool and ooze character because of their patched-up parts and distinct makes and models from all over the world, including American classics. Wreckfest 2 will likely feature more vehicle models than the original game.

The customization system in Wreckfest enables you to fit your car with varying spare parts and accessories to suit your preferred playstyle. For example, you can fit your car with reinforcements like iron armor to make it more effective at wrecking other cars and withstanding crashes. You can also equip your car with cool accessories like lightning-fast rockets to give you an edge in races. The customization options are incredibly versatile. Notably, Wreckfest 2 revamps the customization system, increasing the number and type of customization options.

Interestingly, besides ordinary vehicles, you can also race and crash unconventional vehicles in both games’ various challenge modes. The unconventional vehicles come in diverse types, such as three-wheelers, school buses, lawnmowers, and more. Moreover, the objectives of various challenges are fun and quite challenging. Wreckfest 2 will likely increase the range of unconventional vehicles for more diverse, ridiculous challenges.

Both games feature co-op modes for playing with friends. However, it is worth noting that the co-op mode in the original Wreckfest game is somewhat cumbersome and complicated. Notably, players must adjust certain settings on their router’s configuration page to access multiplayer mode. Nevertheless, the co-op gaming experience is smooth, fun, and, overall, one of the game’s best aspects. Fortunately, the online co-op mode is easier to access in Wreckfest 2. Moreover, it introduces a new local co-op mode with a split-screen feature.

Wreckfest is great, and Wreckfest 2 promises to be better. Nevertheless, they still support modifications, allowing players to utilize their creativity and make the game better. Players can use modifications such as monster trucks, new tracks, maps, and more via the Steam Workshop.
