Will Dragon's Dogma 2 Support Mods?

1 month ago 65

Regardless of Capcom’s take on modding and the addition of Denuvo DRM, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is expected to offer support for mods, just like its predecessor.

One key thing to note is that the game has been developed on the RE engine, which has proven itself to be mod-friendly, as seen in other Capcom games like Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil.

Anticipation is at an all-time high, as Capcom gears up to release Dragon’s Dogma (DD) 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed game from 2012. Similar to the first, this upcoming title will also feature all the core ARPG elements along with overhauled and new mechanics.

Considering that the game is running on the RE engine, we can expect a significant improvement in graphical quality as well. All that being said, the fact that it is launching for PC has got many gamers wondering if this sequel will also offer mod support like its predecessor.

Can You Add Mods to Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Yes! Considering that it is a single-player game, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is expected to offer full mod support, just like the first entry in the series. This was delightful news for many players who were worried that mod support might be limited due to the game’s online Pawn system or even removed completely due to the Denuvo DRM.

Thankfully, Nexusmods has already released five different mods for the game, which has pleased the Dragon’s Dogma community. Although three of these mods are simply to enhance the character creation tool that has already been released, RE Framework, and DLSS activator for GTX and AMD Cards have been developed to be used when the full game launches on 22nd March. Considering that the modding community for the 2012 Dragon’s Dogma is still active, we can certainly expect a lot more mods to be developed once the new game comes out.

Furthermore, Dragon’s Dogma 2 was developed on the Resident Evil RE engine used in other popular Capcom games like Street Fighter 6, Devil May Cry 5, etc. Apart from offering superior graphical fidelity in comparison to the first DD game, this engine has also proved to be very moddable, which is good news for fans of this RPG.

So regardless of Capcom’s view on modding and the existence of the Denuvo Anticheat, we can expect quite a few mods as long as the game’s code is accessible. Similar to other titles in the genre, Dragon’s Dogma 2 might also get the addition of new NPCs, enemies, and items as basic mods. If the game proves itself to be mod-friendly upon release, we can even expect new quests, mini-campaigns, visual mods, etc.
