When can I transfer my character, items, and dinos in Ark Survival Ascended?

A key feature of Ark Survival Evolved is transferring your character, items, and dinos from expansion to expansion. Can you do that in Ark Survival Ascended between The Island and Scorched Earth? Here’s your answer.

You can transfer your character, dinos, and items between expansions in Ark Survival Ascended. You can do this between The Island and Scorched Earth (when it launches), but there is a caveat.

Studio Wildcard mentioned in Community Crunch 403 that you can’t transfer dinos or items for the first 60 days that Scorched Earth is live. This is to keep things fresh, fair, and friendly for all players who get their hands on Scorched Earth, regardless of whether you have a dedicated server or not.

The only thing that is immediately transferrable in Ark Survival Ascended is your character. This means that you can take a character from one expansion, like The Island, and put them into another expansion, like Scorched Earth. This allows you to focus on getting to know the new map instead of worrying about leveling up and increasing your stats.

How to transfer character, items, and dinos from The Island to Scorched Earth in Ark Survival Ascended

Transferring characters, dinos, and items is similar in Ark Survival Ascended to Ark Survival Evolved. To do it, you need to go to an obelisk in-game. These are the large floating metal pillars.

Interact with the terminal just below an obelisk and, in the menu, select the Creatures tab. From here, select Upload Creatures. Remember that all items drop when uploading dinos or your character.

Next, upload your items by selecting Transfer All in your Inventory menu on the left. If it doesn’t work, you need to individually drag each item from your Inventory to the Ark Data tab.

Lastly, you can upload your character by selecting Upload Survivor which is directly in the middle. Remember to upload your entire inventory before doing this or you’ll lose your hard-earned stuff.

When you start another game, you’ll see the Download Ark Survivor screen which allows you to bring your character to another expansion. To get your items and dinos, you need to go to an obelisk and reverse the steps you took.

After 60 days, which is roughly two months, you can transfer your dinos and items between expansions. Theoretically, if Scorched Earth launches on April 1, 2024, then you can be confident in transferring your dinos and items from The Island to Scorched Earth on June 1, 2024 — that is unless Studio Wildcard finds a way to mess things up which wouldn’t be surprising.
