Twitch’s Asmongold Claims ‘Fat and Ugly’ Streamers Won’t Be Liked

Popular World of Warcraft Twitch streamer Asmongold has made headlines for saying ‘fat or ugly’ streamers won’t be as successful.

Asmongold, also known as ZackRawrr, is a successful World of Warcraft player on Twitch’s streaming platform. With over 3.4 million followers, he has amassed quite a following for his MMORPG gameplay and controversial opinions over the years.

Asmongold Strikes Again

Now it seems Asmongold is up to his old tricks by sharing his “uncomfortable shitty truth” on the topic of smaller streamers building a following.

“If you’re ugly, people won’t like you, and this is even more true for girls. So, if you’re really fat and really ugly, it doesn’t matter how funny you are, people just aren’t going to like you. They don’t want to look at you,” he claims.

As you can imagine, this controversial take has not gone down well with his viewers despite him warning them it “might not be” well-received. The opinion saw his followers jokingly ask why he himself was successful despite “not being attractive.”

However, some of his audience agreed with his views and attributed it to being “how the entertainment industry works.”

Twitch streamer Asmongold has come under fire for his opinionsAsmongold is no stranger to a controversial opinion

Not the first time

As mentioned, Asmongold is no stranger to controversy. In the last few years, he has come under fire for calling fatphobia “cringe” and said people should take responsibility for their “poor health choices.” He has also made regular rude remarks about people’s appearances to his audience.

However, during his comments this week, he also says that Twitch has a very “status-conscious” audience. As a result, viewers will always assume a streamer with a big following is better than a talented smaller streamer. Although this doesn’t excuse his comments, it is worth noting further context.
