Tomb Raider Original Trilogy Is Set For Remaster On Nintendo Switch Next Year

The first three Tomb Raider games are set to receive a remaster and will be heading to the Nintendo Switch next year. 

Revealed at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, the news that Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 will be heading to the Switch was definitely a highlight of the event. With the first game releasing in 1996 and the sequels following suit in 1997 and 1998 respectively, it has been a long time coming. 

Tomb Raider Original Trilogy Is Set For Remaster

The trilogy is set to release on February 14 (which is also Lara Croft’s birthday!) and will feature updated graphics.

“Complete with all expansions and secret levels – this is a nostalgia trip you do not want to miss”, said the official Twitter post. 

As mentioned, the trilogy will also feature all DLC and secret content as well as a visual overhaul for the Switch. Although this means the triangular Lara Croft is no more, for those who are feeling nostalgic, you can switch between the two graphic modes in the settings.

What To Expect

For those who never played the trilogy the first time, they can expect grid-based platforming across multiple countries and continents. Lara can jump, spin and dive and will make you remember why she’s one of the most recognised video game characters of all time. 

The news of this remastered trilogy also follows the Lara Croft collection being released to Switch earlier this year. This featured Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft & The Temple of Osiris. 

It really seems like it’s time for another Tomb Raider revival and I for one am glad to revisit my childhood in modern day.
