Sean Shoptaw, Disney’s head of gaming, has told Axios’ Stephen Total that there is “still a lot of demand” for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, which at this point is looking increasingly unlikely to see the light of day.

When asked about the status of the remake, Shoptaw replied that there’s “Not a lot I can say on that point for some hopefully obvious reasons,” adding that the Star Wars title is “obviously an incredibly popular game, one that we are incredibly proud of and think that there’s still a lot of demand for. I’ll leave it there.”

There’s been conflicting reports about the status of Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic as of late. Back in November, Jeff Grubb claimed during his Games Mess Mornings show that nobody was actively working on the project, but a few days later Bloomberg’s Jason Schreirer reported that the Knights of the Old Republic remake was still in development.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced back in 2021, where it was revealed the project was in development at Aspyr Media. However, in August the following year, it was reported that Saber Interactive had taken over the project.
