The Last Of Us Director Is Currently “Working On Another Game” But It’s A Secret

The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann has revealed that he is currently working on a new game but what it is will have to remain a secret.

With fans of TLOU desperate for news on whether or not they can expect a third instalment, they may need to wait a bit longer. 

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Druckmann revealed that although Naughty Dog is working on their next game, he couldn’t share any information about it in fear that the studio’s communications director “will slaughter [him].” 

The Last of Us Part 3?

Since The Last of Us 2 released in 2020, we have yet to receive confirmation that another sequel is in the works. 

Earlier this year, Druckmann spoke about the possibility but confirmed that Part 3 would only happen if the team wanted it to happen.

“It’s up to us whether we want to continue it or not. If we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love – just like the first and second game did – then we will tell that story.”

“If we can’t come up with something, we have a very strong ending with Part 2 and that will be the end,” he said.

Naughty Dog’s Next Game

As for the game currently in the works right now, we are very much in the dark. However, when asked if this mystery game was in fact TLOU 3, Druckmann had this to say:

“As far as the next game at Naughty Dog, I can’t say anything.”

More optimistic fans will notice that this is not a yes or a no so there’s still hope yet.

With a staggering fan base from both the award-winning game and the HBO television adaption, The Last of Us continues to capture people’s minds since it was first released in 2013.

Hopefully whatever Druckmann and Naughty Dog are working on currently will live up to it.
