The Berlin Major 2023 Beckons: OG and Entity Fight for Tournament Lives

1 year ago 86

Two-time TI-winning team OG has had a disappointing Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) tour after switching Mikhail "Misha" Agatov and Evgenii “Chu” Makarov between the coach and position 5 roles in the OG lineup. Entity also has had subpar results in Tour 2 of the 2023 DPC season after a promising run at The Lima Major2023. Both the teams are currently tied with a 2-4 win-loss record in the Western European Division 1 standings, so their upcoming match will be a crucial decider for the final slot at the Berlin Major 2023.

The upcoming match will be an exciting clash of differing playstyles, with OG being known for a more aggressive and fast-paced approach after acquiring Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin and Entity having a more methodical and strategic style in the game. In this match, both teams will have to bring A-game and work on executing their strategies perfectly to hope to compete for the final spot at the Berlin Major 2023 in the tiebreaker matchup against Ooredoo Thunders.

OG vs Entity: A high-stakes match with major implications

Both teams are extremely experienced teams with plenty of experience in the big stages. OG in particular has achievements at the peak of competitive Dota 2, with first-place victories at both ESL One Malaysia 2022 and the Stockholm Major 2022. Entity has also had its share of on-stage experience, with fairly successful endeavors at The International 2022 (TI11) and the last two Majors. This experience both teams have from their past may prove to be invaluable in this high-pressure, winner-takes-all scenario.

The winner of this crucial match will not only get to play for a slot at the upcoming Berlin Major 2023 but also gain momentum and confidence for their upcoming matches. The winning team will be tied with Ooredoo Thunders at 3-4 and go into a two-way tiebreaker with the team to qualify for the Berlin Major 2023. The loser, however, will instead enter a three-way tiebreaker with Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa in a battle to avoid relegation into Division II for the next DPC season.

A relegation would prevent the team from acquiring DPC points from the third tour of the DPC 2023, which in turn completely shuts down the possibility of receiving a direct invitation to The International 2023.

Ultimately, this match could potentially come down to which of these two teams can keep their nerves in check and work on executing its game plan to perfection. Both OG and Entity have the talent and the experience to compete at the highest levels and win, but only one can move forward to compete for a spot at the Berlin Major 2023 while the other will be locked in a battle for survival.
