T1 Faker May Have Done a "U-Turn" With His Worlds 2023 Skin Pick

4 months ago 140

It has been just over a month since T1 lifted its fourth Worlds trophy. As usual, once the League of Legends World Championship ended, fans were extremely excited to begin discussions about the potential picks by T1 for their respective Worlds 2023 skins.

Though not every T1 member has selected their champion yet, they have a clear idea of which ones they are picking and so do their fans. Recently, T1 players Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok talked about their picks, bringing their fanbases to life, thanks to all the debates and discussions.

Faker has especially seemingly shocked his fans as he is considering picking another champion and not Ahri, as everyone anticipated.

Is Faker Not Picking Ahri for his Worlds 2023 Skin?

According to the Riot Games rules, a Worlds winner cannot choose a champion if they had not played it at the tournament. As a result, when Worlds 2023 was underway, T1 fans were excited when star player Faker locked in Ahri. They assumed that Faker chose the nine-tailed fox because he was considering selecting her as the champion for his Worlds 2023 skin.

However, on a recent stream, Faker said he was planning to choose Orianna instead of Ahri as his Worlds 2023 skin. According to a Twitter user's translation, Faker reportedly said, "I decided not to make an Ahri skin. This is real. I decided to not make and Ahri skin. I already said this last time we met."

Faker reportedly noted on stream that Ahri already has numerous skins in League of Legends. Currently, Ahri has over 14 skins, whereas, Orianna has only 11. It is to be noted that Faker played both Ahri and Orianna at Worlds 2023, but he locked in Orianna more than the nine-tailed fox.

Who Are the Other T1 Players Choosing for Worlds 2023 Skins?

Earlier on 22nd December, support player Keria put up a poll on his Instagram story, letting fans vote on his skin choice. The three options [translated from Korean] were Renata Glasc, Bard, and “The poll closes in three hours.

Following this, Keria officially chose Renata Glasc according to his Instagram stories. However, a few hours later, he deleted that story and updated a new one with a caption "Hmm lol."

Currently, the following are the potential choices of T1 players for their respective Worlds 2023 skins:

  • Choi "Zeus" Woo-je: Yone or Jayce

  • Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun: Lee Sin

  • Faker: Orianna

  • Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong: Jinx

  • Keria: Renata Glasc (or Bard since he deleted his story)

After winning Worlds 2022, DRX’s commemorative skins were confirmed only this year in May 2023. Therefore, fans will soon hear from both Riot Games and T1 about the champions that will bear T1's colors.
