The Sega Mega Drive controller for the Switch is back in stock in the UK via the official My Nintendo Store.

The controller has been out of stock for some time, but is now available to buy again for £39.99 via this link:

Nintendo has released classic replica controllers for most of the retro game libraries available on Nintendo Switch Online.

While the NES controller is generally readily available to buy these days, the SNES, Mega Drive and Nintendo 64 controllers are frequently out of stock for lengthy periods, and when stock is replenished they tend to sell out quickly.

The Mega Drive controller can be used with the selection of Mega Drive / Genesis games which are available as part of Nintendo Switch Online for anyone who’s subscribed to the Expansion Pack tier (the games can of course still be played with the standard Switch Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller).

In North America and Europe, the controller is the standard three-button design that was included with the console when it originally launched.

In Japan, however, the Mega Drive Switch controller available there is the improved six-button controller that was released in 1993 to coincide with the release of Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition.

The Expansion Pack adds Mega Drive, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games to the existing NES, SNES and Game Boy libraries available as part of the standard Switch Online membership.

There are currently 36 Mega Drive / Genesis games available on Switch Online, including such critically acclaimed titles as Streets of Rage 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Phantasy Star IV, Mega Man: The Wily Wars and ToeJam & Earl.
