Starfield Modders Will Have To Wait A Bit Longer For Official Mod Support

Despite modders already working hard to introduce new and improved mods to Starfield, they will have to wait a bit longer for official mod support.

In the modern day, modders can be the backbone of the gaming world. Responsible for adding both aesthetic and quality of life features to a game, many of them work for free to make games even better.

That is no different for the latest sci-fi RPG Starfield which has already seen thousands of mods made available for players. Everything from UI organisers, performance optimisers, undelayed menus and enhanced textures have been made available on popular modding sites.

However, official mod support from Bethesda may not arrive until next year.

Starfield Modders Will Have To Wait A Bit Longer

Official mod support will allow modders to create brand-new content for the game. They will be able to add new stories, new planets, new quests and anything else you can probably think of.

However, according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, there’s a bit more of a wait.

In an interview with Famitsu, Howard confirmed the mod tools will arrive sometime in 2024.

“You will be able to do almost anything, just like in previous works,” he said. “Mod support will be available next year, but we love it too, so we’ll do it in a big way.”

DLCs on the horizon

As well as news on mod support, talk also turned to future DLC plans for the game.

For players who bought the Premium Edition, they will have access to the Shattered Space story expansion when it releases. However, we are unsure what will follow after that.

Additionally, Howard had no answers on the amount or scope of extra content we can expect.

Regardless, with mod support on the way, there will be a lot more to look forward to.
