Splatoon 3 gets a Legend of Zelda crossover event

With hype surrounding the upcoming Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Splatoon 3 is getting involved with a crossover event. 

With Nintendo pushing the boat out with marketing for their much-anticipated Zelda game, they are bringing their other titles on board. Splatoon 3 is set to host a Splatfest this May and it will be directly linked to an iconic trio from the Zelda franchise. 

When is the Splatoon 3/Tears of the Kingdom Crossover 

This news comes courtesy of the Nintendo of America Twitter account who announced this earlier today. The Splatfest will take place between May 5 and May 7 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. 

The event will ask players to choose between one thing they seek: Power, Wisdom of Courage. The three options correspond to characters we will meet in Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda, Link and Ganondorf.

What will the Splatfest include?

The Splatfest map will take place on a triangular shaped map. Each corner of the triangle will be dedicated to the three characters. 

Additionally, the event will also include a unique Scorch Gorge for the three-sided Turf War. Not only that, but official artwork for the Splatfest shows that players may be able to equip a unique shirt during the event. 

Fans of Nintendo’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may also remember a similar event to celebrate its release. That saw Splatoon 3 players ask to choose between Fire, Water and Grass-types during the event.

With Tears of the Kingdom set to launch on May 12, fans are struggling to hide their excitement. Even more so since the recent trailer that showed a bunch of new content, including the return of Ganondorf himself. 

The Splatoon 3 crossover event kicks off just a week before the Zelda launch.
