According to insiders such as DanielRPK and MbKKssTBhz5, SEGA is working on Sonic Frontiers 2, the sequel to 2022’s open-world adventure starring the Blue Blur.

Both tipsters have a solid track record when it comes to outing unannounced titles, with MbKKssTBhz5 stating, “The title is a sequel to Frontiers in gameplay style. But the name might change. Frontiers were Rangers until it was announced.”

SEGA obviously hasn’t announced anything about a sequel to Sonic Frontiers, although the game was a big success for the company, having sold 3.5 million copies worldwide by May last year and becoming the fastest-selling 3D entry in the franchise to date.

Sonic Frontiers was released in November 2022 for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. You can read our full review here. On the topic of Sonic, the third entry in the film franchise is due out later this year, and SEGA is celebrating all things Shadow of the Hedgehog with Fearless: Year of Shadow.

Later this year, the publisher will release Sonic X Shadow Generations, a remaster of the 2011 title Sonic Generations featuring all-new levels starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Finally, it’s also rumoured that SEGA is working on a remake of Sonic Heroes.
