Where to find Son of Malphas in Diablo 4

With the amount of Malphas-adjacent nomenclature in Diablo 4 Season of the Construct, specifying which enemy the community is talking about surely comes in handy. Son of Malphas is not a Herald of Malphas, Echo of Malphas is not Malphas precisely, and apples are not the same as oranges. Anyway, Son of Malphas is, like their adequately-named counterparts, a boss you can encounter during your adventures across the five different Vaults – which are basically machine-themed dungeons with lots of deadly traps. Now, the trick is that the Son of Malphas is actually anywhere and everywhere, all at once. Allow me to explain.

Son of Malphas is a Season of the Construct version of The Butcher. You know the Butcher, right? The ominous giant brute swings an equally giant Cleaver that will both terrorize you and kill if you are under-level, which you probably are, to be honest. The trick is that The Butcher will spawn completely randomly across all dungeons and cellars in Sanctuary.

You could be just chilling and completing your dungeon objective and then you’ll hear the most frightening two words in the Diablo franchise: “fresh meat.” And yes, those will probably be the last two words you’ll ever hear. The Son of Malphas works similarly, only that he will appear randomly on all Vaults. Not only that but there’s a chance that both The Butcher and the Son of Malphas spawn at once! Now that’s unlucky!
