30th anniversary project announced, multiple "exciting surprises" planend

SNK's 30th anniversary celebrations for King of Fighters are just getting underway. Today's countdown has seen the opening of an official 30th anniversary website and the launch of the King of Fighters 30th project.

The official SNK social account tells fans to "stay tuned" for more updates. A new 'KoF 30th Project' has also mentioned how SNK has some "exciting surprises" lined up for fans. A message has also been shared on the new website:

"Thanks to the unwavering support of fans worldwide, the series proudly marks its 30th anniversary on August 25. This beloved series has spanned generations and transcended borders, creating a global legacy. SNK is committed to taking on new challenges and meeting KOF fans’ expectations everywhere. Here’s to many more years of fighting greatness!"

Along with this, the 30th anniversary website has revealed some of the surprises that already on the way. 30 surprises appear to be planned:

Although SNK is currently busy promoting its upcoming release Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, it seems it's gearing up for the "big" 30th anniversary of its all-star fighting game, The King of Fighters.

In a brief message on social media, the official SNK account mentioned how there are now just three days left until the 30th anniversary of this long-running series. The King of Fighters 94 originally made its debut in arcades in 1994, following in the footsteps of Fatal Fury and other SNK series like Art Of Fighting.

Many of the previous KoF entries have been made available on the Switch eShop as ACA NeoGeo game releases.

In July, SNK also released SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos on the Nintendo Switch with rollback netcode. And last year in November, it released The King of Fighters: XIII: Global Match on the Switch with "overhauled online functionality".
