Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra is the official title for a game we’ve heard about as early as 2021, but didn’t have a name for.
It’s the Marvel game from legendary developer Amy Hennig and her team at Skydance New Media, which stars Black Panther and Captain America in a World War II setting.
Officially revealed during Epic Game’s State Of Unreal presentation at GDC 2024, not only do we finally have a name for this mystery game, we have a new cinematic trailer, and a release window of 2025.

The last cinematic trailer we saw was a very small teaser, that really only told us the main characters would be a young Steve Rogers and Azzuri, grandfather to T’Challa and the Black Panther during that time.
We still don’t know a lot about what the gameplay will look like, if it’ll be a co-operative adventure with players being able to step into the shoes of both Captain America and Black Panther at the same time, or if it’ll be a purely single-player experience, swapping between both characters.
What this trailer does seem to suggest however is that we can expect a mixture of stealth and melee combat from Black Panther, while Captain America will use his shield for ranged attacks before getting up close and personal.
The trailer also introduced the other two characters along for the journey with Black Panther and Captain America, an American soldier named Gabe, and what appears to be one of Azzuri’s generals in Julie, with their names coming from YouTube’s closed captions on the trailer.
We also now know that the story will revolve around something called “The Eye Of Force,” which Marvel comic fans will remember to be a Neo-Nazi group with dark magic ties.
It also seems like Black Panther and Captain America are at odds, at least for part of the story. No doubt they’ll end up working together to try and stop Hydra before the end.
Though information is still scarce and we’ve yet to see any gameplay, it is good to finally have a title for this game, and if it is coming next year, hopefully we’ll hear more about it sooner than later.
