Tango Gameworks founder and Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami has reacted to Microsoft’s decision to closure the studio, which comes some months after Mikami-san himself left the company to form a new studio.

Writing on Twitter, Mikami simply commented, “Tango closed. Sad,” which pretty much sums up everyone’s thoughts on the matter.

Tango Gameworks was formed back in 2010 and its first project came four years later with The Evil Within, a survival horror game that channelled the very best of Resident Evil and Mikami’s own experience with the genre, while still standing firmly as its own unique experience.

Following its debut title, Tango Gameworks went on to deliver The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush. Mikami would leave Tango Gameworks at some point in 2023, and has since established a new outfit known as Kamuy.
