Rumour – Rise Of The Ronin Will Not Be Released In South Korea

2 months ago 88

A report has surfaced claiming that Rise of the Ronin will not be released in South Korea, allegedly due to controversial comments made by game director Fumihiko Yasuda.

The inflammatory comments stem from a behind-the-scenes making of video, which sees Yasuda-san reportedly glorify Yoshida Shoin, a Japanese scholar who the Rise of the Ronin director compares to Socrates.

This hasn’t gone down well as Shoin promoted something known as the Jeonghan Theory, which spoke of Korean lands conquered by Japan to strengthen its position in the region. As a result of backlash from the Korean gaming community, Sony’s Korean arm has reportedly now worked to block the game’s release there.

One Korean gamer was quoted in an article published on v.daum.net, which said, “Sony Korea made a good decision, I won’t even look at Team Ninja games in the future.”

Rise of the Ronin is scheduled for release on March 22, 2024 for PS5.
