Rumour — PS5 Pro GPU Features Hybrid Of RDNA 3 & RDNA 4 Design

Details on Sony’s PS5 Pro are leaking like a dodgy bath tub this week, with a new report on Insider-Gaming claiming that the console’s GPU will be a hybrid of RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 in terms of design.

According to the info provided by the site, the PS5 Pro utilises the same Zen 2 CPU as the standard version of Sony’s flagship console, which pack eight cores and 16 threads. While the PS5 Pro won’t run any faster than the original model, it features the ability to harness more power to reach 10% higher clock speed than the bog-standard PS5.

This means that the GPU suffers as a result, although it only loses around 1% of its performance in this mode. The reason why PS5 Pro isn’t packing a faster CPU is down to backwards compatibility, as PS5 games of all shapes and sizes are expected to perform on a CPU that runs at 3.5 GHz.

Meanwhile, the RAM will reportedly clock in at 576 GB/s of bandwidth, resulting in a speed of 18 Gbps if the bus width has changed.

The PS5 Pro hasn’t been announced yet, but it is rumoured for release in November 2024 and is known as Project Trinity internally.
