'Red Vs. Blue' Halo Web Series Company Rooster Teeth Shutting Down

The final season of the show airs later this year

It's Master Chief's birthday this week, but unfortunately, there's some sad news for fans of the long-running Halo machinima Red vs. Blue. Not only is the final season of the web series arriving in 2024 but it's now also been revealed the company behind it, Rooster Teeth, is being shut down by Warner Bros. Discovery after 21 years.

Rooster Teeth was originally founded in Texas in 2003 and made a name for itself with its Halo machinima series. It's now up to 19 seasons, with the latest "Restoration" due out later this year after being delayed in November last year.

Here's what Rooster Teeth general manager Jordan Levin had to say about this:

"TO OUR FINAL SEASON - Though not intentional, It’s only appropriate that our last season of “Red vs. Blue” coincides with us navigating this closure together. Our legacy is not just a collection of content but a history of pixels burned into our screens, minds, and hearts. Rooster Teeth has made an indelible mark on the media industry, and we should be so proud of the countless ways we pioneered a business connecting creators and content with a dedicated community."

You can see the full statement about the closure on Deadline. While Rooster Teeth will not continue on and the shut down is "expected to take several months", Warner Bros. Discovery is apparently looking to sell off the podcast network associated with it.
