PSVR 2 Production Reportedly Put On Hold While Sony Clears Unsold Backlog

A report on Bloomberg has claimed that Sony has put production of the PSVR 2 on hold until it has cleared its backlog of unsold units for the virtual reality headset.

Released in February 2023, the PSVR 2 has slowed in terms of sales while stock has been steadily increasing, according to a number of anonymous individuals familiar with VR devices. They claim that Sony has produced around two million PSVR 2 units to date.

The report goes on to state that shipments for Sony’s latest VR headset have declined every quarter since its February 2023 launch, although according to IDC’s Francisco Jeronimo, “We forecast the VR market to grow on average 31.5% per year between 2023 and 2028,” so things could pick up for PSVR 2.
