PSA: If you’re playing Destiny 2: Lightfall today on Xbox, Bungie has a few things you need to do first

“We are investigating an issue blocking sign-in for some Xbox Series X|S players”

It wouldn’t be a live service launch without some sort of issue, and this time it’s solely in the realm of Xbox. According to Bungie, there are “sign-in blocking issues” for Destiny 2‘s Lightfall expansion arrival, which is due at 12PM ET. The thing is, some Destiny 2 players on Xbox Series X/S might not be able to log in when that time comes, “unless some steps are completed.” Thankfully, Bungie is at least on the case until this bug is resolved.

You’ll need to manage some add-ons from the Xbox menu

Here are the first steps to getting Lightfall up and running:

  • Quit Destiny 2 if it’s running
  • Highlight the Destiny 2 tile
  • Press the Menu button
  • Select “Manage game and add-ons”
  • Select Destiny 2

Here are all of the add-ons you’ll need to turn off/unselect:

  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Black Armory
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Joker’s Wild
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken – Penumbra
  • Destiny 2: Forsaken Annual Pass
  • Expansion I: Curse of Osiris
  • Expansion II: Warmind

After that select “save changes,” and the add-ons will uninstall. Then you can launch Destiny 2 as normal!

To verify that it “worked,” you’ll see the “server offline” screen when booting up Lightfall before launch. Once you’re good to go, you’ll be able to pre-load as normal. As of right now, no other platform (PC and PlayStation included) is having issues, so you don’t need to do anything special.
