The chief development officer at IO Interactive has revealed that working on James Bond title Project 007 feels “organic” after so many years of developing Hitman titles.

Speaking with Games Radar+, Veronique Lallier revealed that the team at IO Interactive are “extremely excited” for the project, as it represents an original story for the British super spy.

It’s going to be a very cool, very awesome project. I’m super excited about it. And I mean, if you look at what we’ve done in the past with Hitman, 007 just feels organic for us because we’ve done, you know, stories about agents doing things. So that makes complete sense.

It’s so close to our DNA story that it just feels seamless, seamless integration, you know, and everybody, I mean, everybody’s so excited. It’s such a great honor to be able to work on such an IP, and we have an amazing relationship with our partner MGM.

Project 007 is still in the early days of production and has yet to attract a release date. IO Interactive has been drip-feeding us info on the game however, describing James Bond’s next video game outing as ‘the ultimate spycraft fantasy.’ Furthermore, a job listing for Project 007 a few years ago mentions ‘sandbox storytelling’ and ‘cutting-edge’ AI framework.

James Bond has had a patchy history when it comes to video game adaptations, with GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 from Rare considered the series biggest success. Having said that, titles such as Agent Under Fire, Everything or Nothing and Quantum of Solace are also strong offerings.
