Despite being one of the biggest content creators and influencers online, Pokimane has revealed she sometimes feels ‘guilty’ over this lifestyle.

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch with over 9 million followers. As well as Twitch, she also has 6.65 million subscribers on Youtube as well as 6 million followers on Instagram.

However, being Twitch’s most-followed female broadcaster has made Pokimane something of an internet icon which is something she sometimes feels ‘guilty’ about.

This revelation came courtesy of an Instagram story posted by Anys last week. She admits that the negative impact social media can have on some people often makes her feel ‘guilty’ about her job.

“Every now and then I become really reflective (and lowkey feel guilty) about being a content creator / profiting from social media because it’s so addicting and can be so harmful, especially to young minds,” she wrote on her Instagram

“I especially find myself feeling this way when I realize how much social media impacts my personality, life, opinions, and desires. I cope by trying to be a positive influence on others, or hope that I can use social media as a tool to take care of themselves, spend time outdoors, and create healthy boundaries with all the apps we use.”

The story ends with Pokimane reminding her audience that social media is “virtual, made up, ‘fake’” so people shouldn’t use it to compare themselves or lose themselves.

A Busy Few Weeks

It’s been a busy few weeks for Pokimane who recently left her content creator group in order to pursue a ‘mystery project.’ With the goal to “dabble in other things” and explore her career, it remains to be seen what the future holds for her.
