It’s official now, after weeks of rumours we can all stop speculating. After Hi-Fi Rush’s announcement leaked, Xbox has just come out and admitted that yes indeed, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea Of Thieves, Grounded and Pentiment are all coming to PS5 and PS4.

These are the exact games that were rumoured to be the four that Phil Spencer and company revealed during last week’s podcast update on the future of Xbox’s business.

After the weeks of rumours and online meltdowns, it’s good to finally have the news made official.

The first of the four releasing will be Pentiment, which launches on PS5 and PS4 tomorrow, February 22, 2024. Next up will be Hi-Fi Rush with its March 19, 2024 release date on PS5.

Grounded will follow after with a release on PS5 and PS4 on April 16, 2024 with full support for cross-play at launch. Finally, Sea Of Thieves will arrive on PS5 only, it seems, on April 30, 2024.

“At Xbox, we strive to create games that inspire, entertain, and connect players from around the world,” began Microsoft’s president of game content and studios Matt Booty, who was also present at the podcast last week.

“As a publisher and platform we are committed to meeting players where they are, by bringing more games, to more people, and on more devices. And at the heart of all we do are our players, and the vibrant communities that they build around the games they love.

Today we are announcing that four fan-favourite Xbox games will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Sony platforms this spring. The studios that built these celebrated games have drawn on their multi-platform experience to open the worlds they created to even more players and communities.”

And so Xbox’s big experiment to see if they can drum-up sales for some of their smaller titles outside of Xbox begins. Depending on how things go, this could be the small beginning towards huge ramifications down the line.
