Palworld 'Pokémon Mod' YouTube Videos Already Hit With Takedowns

Palworld has been breaking all sorts of records since its arrival on Xbox, Game Pass and Windows last week and while many players seem to be enjoying it, its success has admittedly come with some controversy.

The latest development is tied to a Pokémon mod now available in the Windows and Steam versions of the game.This mod essentially swaps out all the character and monster models for familiar faces like Ash Ketchum and various well-known pocket monsters and keeps all the other stuff (like the guns).

YouTuber 'Toasted' says he was hit with a DCMA takedown after uploading a video of this same mod. He goes on to claim Nintendo is behind it, but there's no guarantee it's the party that issued the takedown based on similar cases in the past.

Nintendo yesterday refused to comment when asked about Palworld but did acknowledge its existence. The Pokémon Company has also chosen to remain silent.

The developer of the game Pocketpair has come under fire in recent days - with employees receiving abusive messages online and even death threats after being accused of plagiarism. The CEO responded defending the game's materials.

In the most recent update, Palworld has now shifted more than six million units worldwide in just four days. Microsoft and the Xbox team also continue to congratulate it on its success. Yesterday, the Xbox version of the game also got a massive update fixing multiple bugs.
