On 27th January, G2.iG’s Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang won multiple awards at the Malaysia Esports Awards 2023 including the Most Valuable Player of The Year (MVP), the MOBA Player of The Year, and the Male Player of The Year awards. The event was organized by Alive Asia Events and supported by Esports Integrated (ESI) and the Youth and Sports Ministry and held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia.
According to its official website, the award show was “a ceremony that celebrates the dedication, talent, and innovation driving Malaysia’s esports scene.”
While NothingToSay was not present at the award ceremony due to the ongoing ESL One Birmingham 2024 China closed qualifier, Daniel "Ghost" Chan received the honorary awards in his place. Other notable Dota 2 personalities such as Dota 2 veterans Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung, Khoo "Ohaiyo" Chong Xin and Malaysian Twitch streamer Hishiko were also present at the award ceremony.
NothingToSay Felicitated for His Contribution To Malaysian Esports
Malaysian Dota 2 professional NothingToSay was recently awarded multiple awards at the Malaysia Esports Awards 2023 to honor his contribution towards the development of Malaysia’s esports sector. The Malaysia Esports Awards 2023 was notably the first of its kind to honor the esports professionals of Malaysia.
NothingToSay (aka NTS) who currently plays for G2.iG and is in China, was unable to attend the awards ceremony but left a hearty message for his fans and thanked them profusely for the honor bestowed upon him. In the video message, he remarked that it was not easy being far from home and he missed Malaysia dearly.
He also sought the support of the Malaysian people and asked them to cheer for him and his teammates.
At the awards, Mushi and Ohayio had the honor to present the MOBA Player of the Year award to NothingToSay. Hishiko took to X (formerly Twitter) and congratulated NothingToSay for his achievements. She wrote, “Attended the first Malaysian Esports Awards last night! Happy to meet everyone who shares the same passion for gaming. Also, congrats to NothingToSay for winning the Player of The Year, MOBA Player of The Year, and MVP of The Year award. DOTA 2 FTW.”
At the ongoing ESL One Birmingham 2024 China closed qualifier, G2.iG played MAG.Yolo, Team Aster, and LGD Gaming won all the series and secured a spot in the final series. It remains to be seen whether G2.iG can win the final series and make it to the main tournament.
