According to the latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 leaks, there is a bunch of new seasonal content coming to the game. Multiple data miners and leakers are suggesting that a fan-favorite weapon may be making its way into the game. It is no secret that fans love the Intervention sniper rifle in the Call of Duty franchise. With the recent leaks, it is highly likely that we could see the Intervention sniper return to the multiplayer game and Warzone 2.0 in the near future.
Even before Modern Warfare 2 officially launched last year, leakers have been claiming that the Intervention sniper rifle would be featured in the game. Here’s all we know about why the rifle is so hyped and whether this time around it will actually make it into the game.
What is the Intervention sniper?
The CheyTac Intervention or simply the Intervention is a bolt-action sniper rifle featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), Call of Duty Online, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (2016), and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.
The Intervention sniper is a high-damage sniper rifle with a high recoil. With high penetration power, the Intervention sniper can also get one shot kill through walls.
Intervention sniper’s return in Modern Warfare 2
Firstly, in April 2022, Call of Duty player and leaker TheGhostofHope wrote on Twitter, “The Intervention and ACR are both in MWII.” Following this, the rifle was spotted in the game briefly in October last year. At that time, CharlieIntel wrote, “The Intervention is in #ModernWarfareII apparently. It shows up in Spec Ops in the Backpack UI. Appears to be a blueprint.”
But now, the recent leaks have more evidence to support the claims of this rifle coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. On 27th March, data miner and leaker TaskForceCodW shared a list of file names in Modern Warfare 2 that reportedly relate to upcoming weapons in the game. Notably, they are just codewords and one of them is claimed to be linked to the Intervention sniper.
TaskForceCodW claimed to have worked out what these codewords likely are. According to them, the India code could be the M200 intervention.
On 28th March, CharlieIntel said, “New data mining suggests that the Intervention Sniper will be coming to MWII and Warzone 2 at some point.”
Since these are only leaks, Call of Duty players and enthusiasts should take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for official confirmation from Infinity Ward or Activision.
