The event featured a 3-minute video featuring “the captivating story, thrilling gameplay and expansive world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth”. We saw some of our first glimpses at Cloud, Aerith, Tifa and others as they explored the world of Gaia.

The trailer starts with a look at our gang during what looks like the aftermath of a terrible disaster before rewinding back to show us what led up to it. We then see a montage of the much-loved characters as they explore the diverse land, ride on Chocobos and work together to face some big threats.

Not only that, but we also get a sneak peek at some of the game’s combat.

Two-disc physical edition

Perhaps the most shocking news of the night was the announcement that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be split into two discs. This was common practice during the PlayStation 1 days but has fallen off during recent years with the popularity of digital downloads.

This could hint at a large and expansive game so it’s no surprise that fans were excited enough to make “TWO DISCS” trend overnight.

So there you have it. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will launch in early 2024 for PlayStation 5.
