Frisco, Texas (April 10, 2024) – Today, Mexico-based studio Wabisabi Games and Gearbox Publishing have announced RKGK, an anime-inspired vibrant single player 3D platformer coming this Summer 2024 to PC via Steam.

Turn heads, drop jaws, and be bright. In RKGK, players accompany Valah, a member of a rebellious graffiti group, to fight the oppressive B Corp and its evil CEO that seeks to drain color and life from the Neo-Brutalist world of Cap City. Push platforming skills to new heights, unleash abilities, and use the city as Valah’s canvas to take down B Corp’s minions.

RKGK is the first title from studio Wabisabi Games, founded in Mexico City. In 2020, Wabisabi Games received initial backing from Riot Games’ Underrepresented Founders Program, which invests in founders from underrepresented communities to help them create games and experiences for players of all backgrounds. With a foundational commitment to support independent developers and being the most developer friendly publisher in the world, Gearbox Publishing forged a partnership with Wabisabi Games to ensure RKGK’s platforming thrills and the studio’s vision are brought to the widest possible global audience.

Key features include:

  • NAVIGATE A DYSTOPIAN NEO-BRUTALIST WORLD – Valah’s creativity and imagination is the spark to guide players through a dark, controlling world. Light up the cold concrete with neon graffiti, discover secret treasures, and map hidden paths through the sprawling urban world of Cap City.
  • GO AHEAD, SHOW OFF – Chain together jumps, dashes, glides, and grinds as you master the fluid and kinetic platforming action. Master routes and push through enemies like a true rebel to take down B Corp with speed and style.
  • BE BOLD – Break through enemies, overload your senses, and take back control. Use Valah’s paint abilities for stylish traversal, chaotic mayhem, and making your mark on every corner of Cap City. Reach the perfect flow state in Defacer Mode and Valah’s world becomes an animated wonderland.
  • RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE – Channel your power through art and resist B Corp’s mind controlling technology. Restore freedom to the citizens of Cap City. Graffiti is the ultimate expression of resistance. With plenty of outfit and paint customization options, Valah can reclaim her city with pride and look great doing it.

“We always dreamt of creating our own game that pays respect to all the things we loved as kids that kickstarted our imaginations, from graffiti and streetwear to anime and manga,” said Anwar Noriega, Wabisabi Game’s CEO and Studio Co-Founder. “RKGK fulfills our ultimate vision of not only making the fast, fun, colorful platformer we’ve always wanted to play, but also honors our deepest childhood joys that made us who we are. We hope that our story inspires other aspiring developers everywhere to pursue their dreams and make their voices heard.”

“The developers at Wabisabi have poured so much of themselves and their heartfelt passions into this game. We are very grateful to have been trusted by them to be their partner in bringing RKGK to players around the world,” said Steve Gibson, President of Gearbox Publishing. “Supporting the vision and work of smaller, independent studios is very important to us and immensely rewarding as we get to work with such talented individuals bringing their visions to life.”

“Seeing the Wabisabi team’s dedication, ambition, and creativity manifest in RKGK from start to finish has been incredibly rewarding,” said Jake Perlman-Garr, Head of Corporate Development at Riot Games. “Wabisabi is one of the first studios we committed to as part of the Underrepresented Founder’s Program in 2020, and we hope developers and players of all backgrounds will be able to enjoy RKGK.”

RKGK will release in Summer 2024 for PC via Steam. For more information and to stay up to date, visit www.rkgk.com and follow the official Steam page, X, Instagram / Threads, Facebook, and TikTok channels.
