Morrowind mod uses AI to create full NPC voice acting

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind gets a mod that uses AI to implement full voice acting. How awesome is that?

Morrowind was released for PC as well as the original Xbox back in 2002. Yet, despite being over two decades old, fans of the Bethesda RPG classic are finding new ways to breathe life into the game.

AI takes Morrowind to new heights

During an era in which AI is really taking off in the entertainment industry, it seems that the world of video games isn’t getting left behind.

That being said, one could argue that a single aspect holding Morrowind back is that it has non-voiced dialogue options. However, as reported by Game Rant (via PC Gamer), a group of talented modders are looking to change that.

Moreover, by using a software tool called ElvenAI, modders are able to implement dialogue into Morrowind to enable more immersive conversations with NPCs. After watching a YouTube upload demonstrating the mod, it all sounds very impressive and certainly doesn’t look all that out of place.

To be honest, if I hadn’t already known that the voices in the video above were coming from an AI mod, I would have been none the wiser. Sadly, this mod, as well as the Fallout 4 mod below, are for PC only.

Fallout 4 has had some love too

What’s more, it’s not just The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind that’s getting the voiced dialogue mod treatment.

As reported by PC Gamer, Bethesda’s other RPG, Fallout 4 has just received a new mod which not only adds additional voices to the game but also 50 new quests as well as a new ending. Happy days!
