On one hand, 2023 has been an incredible year for a high quality bar of games being released that each reviewed extremely well. Baldur’s Gate III, Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Sea Of Stars, the list could go on.

A list practically just as long however is the list of the worst reviewed games of the year, and Metacritic has gone through the effort of listing the top 10 worst reviewed games according to their Metacritic scores.

Just as there were excellent games released this year, there were some games that you’d be surprised to learn they released in 2023. You can check out the full list and their scores, below.

  1. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum – 34
  2. Flashback 2 – 35
  3. Greyhill Incident – 38
  4. Quantum Error – 40
  5. Testament: The Order of High-Human – 41
  6. Crime Boss: Rockay City – 43
  7. Hellboy: Web of Wyrd – 47
  8. Gangs of Sherwood – 48
  9. Loop8: Summer of Gods – 49
  10. Gargoyles Remastered – 49

It should be noted that the requirements for making the list according to Metacritic included the score being made up of at least 7 critic reviews.

That’s why games like Skull Island: Rise Of Kong which currently sits at a 23 on Metacritic isn’t on the list, since that score is only made up of 5 reviews, and any other platform it has reviews for has less than 4, the minimum required for Metacritic to place a score next to it.

Still, it’s an accurate list of some of the worst experiences that have come across controllers this year.
