Despite rumours of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 being a co-op adventure, Insomniac have finally spoken up about it and it’s not good news.

The rumours of a possible co-op mode for the Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel first surfaced last September thanks to comments by Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter. In an interview during SacAnime Summer 2022, he was asked whether the second game would feature a co-op mode. Jeter replied, “I don’t know if it’s been announced or not, but I think so.”

Since this less-than-certain reply, fans have run with the idea that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will in fact have a co-op mode. This would have made sense considering both Peter Parker and Miles Morales look to be playable characters. However, this is not the case.

When asked by a Twitter user whether the game is going to be co-op, the official Insomniac account replied saying Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!”

A crumb of news

As for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 itself, we still don’t know much about it. Insomniac has remained tight-lipped about the highly-anticipated sequel. We know we can expect Tony Todd taking on the role of Venom and that we are expected to get a “Fall 2023” release.

It will also be a PlayStation 5 exclusive but it’s there the information comes to an end.

Luckily, with Sony’s PlayStation Showcase coming up on May 24, we could expect to hear some more news during the one-hour event. It would make sense considering Fall 2023 is just a few months away and fans are getting inpatient.

If you are desperate for a bit of web-slinging action until then, make sure to check out Fortnite who will be welcoming Miles to its roster this week.
