Riot has announced that the League of Legends Quick Play mode will arrive later this year after a short delay. Here’s everything we know so far.

First announced earlier this year, Riot revealed they were working on a Quick Play mode for League of Legends. This would replace the current Blind Pick mode due to it being one of the less picked options in the game.

Now after months of waiting with no updates, Riot has revealed their plans for the upcoming changes.

League of Legends Quick Play Mode Will Arrive Later This Year

Quick Play will consist of players being able to choose their champions and role before queuing up. Then they will be put up against enemies who chose different roles. As a result, you will be able to skip the champion selection menu and load into a game immediately.

Despite the mode being tested out in smaller servers, Riot has not announced any release date for Quick Play. Until now.

After a question regarding the mode was posted to Reddit, lead producer Chris ‘Auberaun’ Roberts hinted that it will be arriving by the end of the year.

“We were hoping to get Quick Play out before the midyear patch but weren’t quite able to finish before we had to pivot to Emerald and other ranked split two stuff,” he says. “So we’ll be picking it back up shortly and plan to get it out later this year.”

The Future of League

With Quick Play being requested by fans for many years, it would definitely be a good addition to the game. With some League of Legends matches taking up to an hour, this mode will be an excellent place for some casual play or to welcome beginners.

However, it seems as though we will have to wait a few more months to see the mode arrive.
