League of Legends Arena Mode: Meta, Ranks, Multi-Team Combos & More

4 months ago 113

The Arena mode, which is an amalgamation of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and League of Legends, was first released on 20th July along with the big 2023 Summer Event: Soul Fighter. It is a team deathmatch-like (TDM) game mode that captures the essence of an anime tournament arc. Players fight in pairs against other teams and the last team standing wins the game.

Just like how League of Legends Summoner's Rift has ranked ladders for Solo/Duo and Flex queues, the Arena mode also has different ranks and a ranked ladder. Players also follow a specific meta to win games and climb up the ladder.

Here's all you need to know about the ranks in Arena mode, the current meta and other details.

Different Ranks in LoL Arena Mode

In Arena Mode, duos fight other pairs in a series of 2v2 fights. When you enter the game, you will be armed with powerful Augments that change the way your champion plays and buy items that you know and love.

Just like TFT, each team has collective health that takes damage every time they lose a round. A team is eliminated when their collective health drops to zero and below. The last team standing with health wins the entire game.

Riot Games, when Arena was first rolled out, said, “In order to make this game mode appeal to both types of players we drew some inspiration from our neighbors on TFT and added a ladder that players can climb like they have in Hyper Roll.”

The ranks in Arena mode are as follows going from lowest to highest:

  • Wood

  • Bronze

  • Silver

  • Gold

  • Gladiator

Players gain points by placing in the top two teams, and lose points by placing in the bottom two.

How Does Arena Work? What's the Meta?

If you are unaware, just like how the ring closes in Battle Royales, in Arena mode, after a few mins of head-on fighting, the Ring of Fire will start to close in. If the Combat Phase does not end within 30 seconds, the ring will close in towards the battlefield’s center and rapidly damage enemies outside of it. When the ring is fully closed in, both teams have 15 seconds before the round ends in a tie.

As a result, champions that have the ability to throw the enemy into the Ring of Fire are always in meta.

Here are a few champions that have the ability to push around opponents in League of Legends and could come in handy in the Arena mode when the circle closes in:

  • Alistar

  • Poppy

  • Singed

  • Hecarim

Likewise, wombo-combos tend to do really well in Arena mode. Some of the multi-team combos you could try are as follows:

  1. Trundle and Mordekaiser

  2. Brand and Kayn

  3. Kayle and Sett

  4. Gragas and Jhin

  5. Swain and Udyr

  6. Braum and Lucian

  7. Urgot and Veigar

  8. Illaoi and Sett

  9. Brand and Garen

  10. Singed and Illaoi
