In a surprising turn of events, Krafton has warned third-party tournament organizers to stop hosting Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) unofficial tournaments. The news first surfaced when an official email from Krafton’s Esports team popped up on the internet. S8UL Esports’ co-owner Lokesh “Goldy” Jain later confirmed that Krafton had indeed asked tournament organizers to stop hosting unofficial tournaments. Although Goldy had a miscommunication with Krafton officials that even players are not allowed to stream the game, he and Sid later clarified that players could stream the game.
BGMI unofficial tournaments to be stopped effective immediately
An email from the Esports Team of Krafton to a third-party tournament (TPT) organizer Angry Panda Esports has surfaced on the internet. The email reads that the dates of the ongoing tournament by the tournament organizer (TO) were not approved by Krafton, and it should be stopped immediately and that it is the first and final warning to stop the event. The email further reads, “The tournament approval process has been put on hold until further notice, and we request that you please wait for further updates. Failure to adhere to the instructions mentioned above can have repercussions for Angry Panda Esports and their future tournaments.”
Goldy addressed this and stated that the organization had also received a notice from Krafton to stop streaming the game. “Krafton told TOs to immediately halt… Krafton also told us that all streams should be closed with immediate effects. Nobody will stream. We also replied that if anybody streams, they will go home. Out from S8UL,” he said.
Following this, Goldy posted an Instagram story where he mentioned that he had a miscommunication with the officials and stated that the players were allowed to stream the game. “As discussed on my stream today, where I mentioned that players are not allowed to stream BGMI was a misunderstanding and miscommunication with the officials. Only TPT for BGMI are disallowed! Streamers/players can continue to stream classic matches!” he said.
S8UL Esports’ manager Siddhant “Sid” Joshi also addressed this situation and stated that the organization’s BGMI players would resume streaming. “Quick update. In the afternoon, an employee from Krafton told Goldy Bhai that streaming is not allowed for BGMI as he discussed on the stream. But in the evening, it was clarified that tournaments are not allowed now, third party tournaments. So our players will start streaming from tomorrow, but they will only play classics,” he said.
Unfortunately, Krafton has not revealed the reason behind taking this step suddenly. It will be exciting to see what Krafton has planned for the game.
