After an exhilarating win over Gaimin Gladiators at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai, Team Liquid’s Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi sat down in a post-game interview with Shannon "SUNSfan" Scotten and Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann. During the interview, iNSaNiA revealed a kind gesture from Azure Ray after the Chinese team canceled the scrim match.
Firstly, he said he would choose Azure Ray over Team Spirit as Team Liquid's opponent at BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. He revealed that this choice was due to Azure Ray's kind gesture which, according to iNSaNiA, no other team has ever done before.
He also jokingly called out BetBoom Team which seemingly has a habit of canceling a lot of scrims against Team Liquid. The wish seems to have come true as Azure Ray has eliminated Team Spirit and is set to face Team Liquid in the lower bracket semi-finals.
Azure Ray Makes Up for Canceling Scrims With Team Liquid
In a recent post-game interview with SUNSfan and KheZu, Team Liquid’s iNSaNiA revealed that Azure Ray sent Team Liquid “tea” after canceling a scrim the day before. He said, “They sent this tea like, ‘We're sorry, we canceled.’ That's a good move. I like that. I feel like BetBoom should learn after canceling 47 scrims on us and sending us nothing.”
Readers should note that during tournaments, teams play against each other behind the scenes as a means to practice for the tournament and these are called “scrims.” Most of these scrims are planned well in advance and are scheduled. As a result, scrim matches are just as important for all pro teams.
While Azure Ray canceled its scrims against Team Liquid, its hospitality is surely commendable and has touched the hearts of Team Liquid players.
In other news, Team Liquid finally beat its arch-nemesis Gaimin Gladiators during the lower bracket quarterfinals and sent it home packing. Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators were arguably the biggest rivals of 2023, going head-to-head in multiple instances. Team Liquid lost the first series against Gaimin at the start of the tournament but this win is certainly a good payback.
Azure Ray also managed to clean sweep Team Spirit, disappointing Team Spirit and its fans. After this heartbreaking loss, Team Spirit’s Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov said in an interview that the loss was due to bad hero drafts and some bad calls during the games. He also noted that as a captain of the team, he was not satisfied with the overall performance of the team during the tournament and it was mediocre.
Team Liquid and Azure Ray are now set to face each other in the lower bracket semi-finals. The winner of this series will advance to the lower bracket finals and play against the loser of the upper bracket finals. In the upper bracket finals, BetBoom and Team Falcons find themselves fighting for a spot at the grand finals of BetBoom 2024 Dubai.
