Every couple of weeks, Riot Games pushes updates onto both its public beta environment (PBE) and live servers.

Players update the different clients, be it PBE or the live one, to play the game in the respective patches.

Recently, upon installing the latest PBE patch for Season 2024, players have been encountering a pop up, preventing them from playing the game.

The Public Beta Environment (PBE) is a separate League of Legends server where players are enabled to test and try out upcoming features that are not implemented in the game just yet. By allowing players to test upcoming updates, Riot Games gets the chance to eliminate any pesky bugs that players find along the way. This ensures that the new content is well-tuned and glitch-free even before it goes live.


Recently, Riot Games pushed the League of Legends Season 2024 changes onto the PBE to gather feedback from the players about the plethora of void-related, map and terrain, and item changes in the game.

However, upon downloading the patch on the PBE, a lot of players have been facing a peculiar error that reads, "Sorry We Have Detected a Problem With Your Installation."

League of Legends 'Sorry We Have Detected a Problem With Your Installation' Error: What Is It?

On 21st November, one League of Legends player named Confident_Piglet_316 took to the PBE subreddit to post, "Need Help. How do I fix 'sorry we've detected a problem with your installation. we will now attempt to repair the affected files'' It was fine a week ago but it recently started showing this error idk why."

Players facing this issue also noted that they were kicked out of games and put into a loop of loading up, getting into queue, champion select, after which it eventually crashes, forcing the Riot Hextech repair tool.

One of the moderators of the subreddit suggested a solution another user had provided a week back. The solution which seemingly worked for the other player was closing whatever recording software they were running and restarting the PBE client.

However, Confident_Piglet_316 confirmed that this did not work for them.

Another Redditor confirmed that there is no solution for this issue right now and that Riot Games Support is well aware of it. They wrote, "Support told me that they are aware of this bug and they working on it, it must be some new bug bc there is 0 info online."

Several other players on the same thread confirmed that they started experiencing this issue with the latest Season 2024 patch and hoped that it gets resolved very soon.

A comment that mirrored this said, "Tried everything humanly possible. it is truly on riots side and we cannot do anything to fix it. best thing is to just wait. i have already been banned from ranked games from trying so much."

What's the Solution To this 'Sorry We Have Detected a Problem With Your Installation' Error?

A helpful player, on the same Reddit thread, suggested the following method, which seems to have worked for a few:

  • Right click on the League of Legends client icon

  • Go to properties

  • Ensure that it is not running on compatibility mode

  • Restart League of Legends and this time run as Admin

  • You can also try restarting your PC before you relaunch League of Legends.


Players should remember that this seems to be an error on Riot Games' side and only a patch update from this end can potentially solve the issue. However, you can try out the above-mentioned solution in the meantime as a temporary solution to this error.
