HBO’s The Last Of Us Casts Kaitlyn Dever As Abby For Season 2

HBO’s The Last Of Us had what was probably a better first season than anyone could have predicted, raising the anticipation and stakes for a coming Season 2.

One of the main questions being who will play the role of Abby, the other main character alongside Ellie in The Last Of Us Part II.

We now have our answer as Kaitlyn Dever has been cast to play Abby in HBO’s The Last Of Us season 2.

You may recognize Dever from her role in the 2019 Dear Even Hansen film, or more recently from her part in Good Grief which released on Netflix last year.

While Dever may not have been the Abby that fans were picturing, showrunner Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog’s own Neil Druckmann stand behind the choice entirely.

“Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material. Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.” said Mazin and Druckmann.

It’ll be interesting to see how Dever fares when we first see her in the role, and how her and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie look paired against each other.

There’s also a big question around what we’ll even see of Dever, since we know that it’s Mazin’s plan to split up the second game in two seasons, and as he’s said before, he’s not sacred with the order of events.

“Anyone can die at any moment,” said Mazin. So we don’t know what to expect. For all we know, Dever’s Abby could be more of a baseball person, than golf.
