Gorgc Makes Team Tier List for Bali Major 2023

Popular Dota 2 streamer Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski posted a tier list of the 18 teams competing shortly before the Bali Major 2023.

According to Gorgc, Gaimin Gladiators will emerge victorious once again after dominating the last 4 tier-1 tournaments.

The popular streamer places the SEA teams in the D or C-Tier, stating that they have not done very well in the previous few tournaments.

Shortly before the Bali Major 2023 began, popular Dota 2 live streamer, Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski, released a tier list of the 18 competing teams at the tournament. Based on his impressions and understanding of all the teams, he categorized the teams into 5 tiers with S being the highest and D being the lowest. Gorgc focused on the teams' recent performances, such as Gaimin Gladiators winning the last four Tier 1 tournaments, and BetBoom's reputation for not performing very well in LAN tournaments.

Gorgc believes Gaimin Gladiators will win its fifth Tier 1 Title

According to the popular streamer, he believes Gaimin Gladiators is still in form and will go on to win the Bali Major 2023 title, which would match the record of the old OG lineup winning 3 majors in a row.

Additionally, he says that the teams in B-tier are big wildcards and may win, but a LAN tournament is different, which is why they are lower.

“I think thats good. LGD a cut above, yeah. These guys (B-Tier teams) are definitely gonna be big wild cards. B (tier) is a big wild card one, I don't know honestly. Pandas (9Pandas) and BetBoom could surprise me. They could make it all the way to the finals, I could even put BetBoom here (S-Tier) and its not even that crazy, cause they were just in the finals and went to Game 5 against Gaimin. But LAN is different, LAN is different. I think their honeymoon phase is over (talking about Team Aster), otherwise I would put them B tier, honestly. Alright, I'm actually locking in the list boys. I ruined the perfect symmetry but I don't wanna put anybody up with Gaimin. I don't feel comfortable, I don't feel comfortable putting them up with Gaimin. That’s it, we’re locking it in. L list? It’s fine, im not gonna please everybody, but the results will speak for themselves, that’s why nouns is S-tier and we’re closing the stream,” he said.

According to the tier list he made, Gaimin Gladiators seem to be a class apart from the other teams and have few notable competitors on its level.

Gorgc on his opinion about the SEA teams - Bleed Esports, Blacklist International and Execration

While making the tier list, Gorgc did not seem to expect much of the South East Asian (SEA) teams that were present, however, he does acknowledge that all the SEA teams will have a “home-turf” advantage. He still puts Blacklist International in the lowest D-Tier, however, he puts Bleed Esports in a higher C-Tier saying that they may be a better team due to the experience of Rasmus "MISERY" Filipsen and Daryl "iceiceice" Koh.

“For all the SEA teams, cant forget, that might play a factor (Home-turf for SEA teams), Quinn had to fly 50 hours to get there and he’s jetlagged as f*ck. These guy are chilling, you know? They were sippin a mojito when they came by. I think rating them D-tier is a bit risky, honestly. It’s a bit risky. I think I'm gonna give them some hope, they beat Talon, I gotta put someone D-Tier,” he said.

“Bleed? Iceiceice, Dubu, Jacky, Kordon, Misery coach? This reminds of a TSM roster. Who the f*ck is Jacky? Jacky but not mao? He’s from Laos. Tough call. I think this is a slightly better team than Blacklist. I think they deserve a C tier, I think they’re slightly better, they have iceiceice,” he added.

Lastly, the streamer placed Execration in the D-Tier mainly because of the team’s disappointing experience in recent tournaments.

With the Major already having commenced and the first day of matches unfolding, it’s only a matter of time before fans realize how accurate Gorgc’s tier list is. Even though he believes that the SEA teams may underperform at the tournament, only time will tell whether the home-turf advantage will pay off.

Group A consists of Team Aster, Team Liquid, beastcoast, Invictus Gaming, Shopify Rebellion, Team Spirit, Tundra Esports, Blacklist International, and Execration.

Group B consists of Azure Ray, nouns, PSG.LGD, Gaimin Gladitaors, Quest Esports, BetBoom Esports, 9Pandas, Bleed Esports, and Evil Geniuses. $500K USD in prize money and 3,500 DPC points will be on the line in this event.
