God of War Ragnarok Creative Director Teases “Early Things Coming Together” on Next Project

God of War Ragnarok

With the end of the Norse saga in God of War Ragnarok, Sony Santa Monica hasn’t outlined what’s next for the series. It did launch Valhalla, an expansion-sized rogue-lite mode that serves as an Epilogue of sorts for Kratos, but the studio’s newest project remains unknown.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Cory Barlog, who directed God of War (2018) and served as creative director on Ragnarok, did tease some “early things coming together” for “this thing I am working on right now.” He added, “The people I work with at @SonySantaMonica are just f****** beyond brilliant.”

Of course, there’s little to infer from this tweet, especially since the nature of the “thing” is unknown. It could be more content for Ragnarok, especially with senior writer Orion Walker teasing that Valhalla doesn’t mark the end of its story. Interestingly, composer Bear McCreary responded with a sheepish GIF, which Barlog responded to.

Stay tuned for more details and potential announcements in the future. God of War Ragnarok is available for PS4 and PS5 – check out our review here. You can also read our thoughts on Valhalla and what makes it a treat to play through, especially if you enjoyed the original God of War trilogy.
