MAD Lions KOI went up against G2 Esports in a best-of-five series in the grand finals of LEC Winter 2024 playoffs.

However, the team lost the series and there were comments on social media dragging down the squad.

In one such instance, Ibai commented on LoL pro Gilius tweet, leaving the community in splits.

On 18th February, during the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Winter 2024, G2 Esports showed its prowess and defended its championship title. It went against MAD Lions KOI in a best-of-five series, and won it with a 3-1 scoreline.

There were memes and jokes about MAD Lions KOI after it lost the grand final and one such tweet that called the team "F tier" saw a godly comeback from MAD Lions KOI owner Ibai "Ibai" Llanos. The tweet was made by League of Legends veteran and pro player Erberk "Gilius" Demir and Ibai's reply on his original tweet left the community in splits.

Gilius Trolls MAD Lions KOI, Gets Trolled Right Back by Ibai

On 18th February, Gilius posted a video on Twitter calling MAD Lions Koi an "F Tier" team. The video was a compilation of fun/fail moments from the team throughout the split. The end of the clip also included a tweet from another veteran Christian "IWDominate" Rivera which read, "What does it look like?"

The video then proceeded to show comments that said, "Looks like sh**" At the end, MAD Lions KOI logo was shown being flushed down the toilet with the caption, "Looks like sh**"

This tweet by Gilius has 4.7K likes and 312 retweets and quote tweets. The following day, Ibai left a comment that left everyone in the community tight-lipped and flabbergasted, including Gilius himself.

He replied [translated from Spanish to English using DeepL], "If I had known that the message I left you in read in October 2023 where you asked me to join the KOI Academy was going to hurt you so much, I would have answered you."

Commenting back, Gilius said, "Much love Ibai." Funnily, Ibai's reply has 29K likes and 2.6K reposts.

Ibai's comment was particularly funny because Gilius is a veteran player who used to play in the LEC and for him to seek a place in the tier 2 scene was unexpected.

Gilius last played for SK Gaming in November 2023, following which he became inactive.

A lot of fans on social media were confused by Gilius' tweet. This is because MAD Lions KOI made LEC 2024 Winter Finals as an underdog team with four rookies and one experienced player in its jungler Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla.

One user tweeted, "I genuinely don’t get this post, they made finals as a full underdog rookie team except Elyoya and you try to clown on them? I don’t even wanna flame Gilius, I’m just confused?"

MAD Lions KOI will look to comeback stronger and win the split during Spring. LEC 2024 Spring Split is set to kick off on 9th March, after a couple of weeks of break. Meanwhile, G2 Esports became the first team to qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 in Chengdu, China.
