He added that Tetusya Nomura, the creative director on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, was given “homework” to bring a conclusion to the remake project that respects the original Final Fantasy VII while offering something new that wasn’t present in 1997. He confirmed that this was tied up at the end of last year.
Hamaguchi-san added that there is a possibility that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 may feature a New Game Pus mode, noting that there is interest from fans to bring features from the PC version of the remake titles to the PS5.
Back in September 2024, Kitase revealed that the story would not betray fans of the original 1997 Final Fantasy VII, although it would allow the team to bring new elements since it’s been so long since PSOne version. He worded it as an opportunity to “bring new happiness.”
